We’re thrilled to announce that Nordic Honey is one of the Great Taste winners in 2019! Great Taste is the world’s most desired food and drink awards. Established in 1994, it is a well respected food accreditation scheme for specialty food producers and allows small food and drink businesses to compete against supermarket premium own label brands.
Great Taste doesn’t judge branding and packaging, it only values taste.
Every year over 10 000 products are sent from a hundred different countries to be blind-tasted multiple times by over 500 food critics, chefs, journalists, buyers etc. All the products are removed from their wrappers and jars, so that judges can be as fair-minded as possible. They taste the products and decide whether they’re worthy of a 1-, 2- or 3-star award. Less than 3% of the products are awarded a 3-star, less than 10% of entries achieve a 2-star, and approximately 25% of entries will achieve a 1-star rating.
This year there were 12 772 products participating and we are so proud that three of our products stood out in such a tense competition. We want to say a special thank-you to our hardworking beekeepers who make it possible for the bees to live in an environement that enables to produce such a special honey.

The following Nordic Honey products won Great Taste Award 2019:
1. We’re proud to say that our Late Harvest honey won a 2-star award! Which means the judges rated it above and beyond delicious. They said, “This honey has a beautiful golden colour, the aroma of a field in the late summer, and is complex in flavour - you can sense delicate citrus and floral notes, and caramel sweet flavour.” An abundance of ripe and mellow plants definitely work their magic at the end of the Nordic summer!
2. Our Spring Is In The Air honey won a 1-star award! It was dubbed to deliver fantastic flavour. The judges said, “It is slightly unusual and interesting, as this honey has a delicate aroma and a fragrant flavour that gives the floral intensity promised.” Our lucky bees do indeed enjoy raspberry, heather, blueberry, lingonberry, white and pink clover, and in some years even linden.
3. A Sting of Chilli honey won a 1-star award as well! “This golden runny honey has a sweetness on the palate followed by the fruitiness of the chilli. It’s beautifully infused, and the warmth of the chilli balances well against sweet honey,” descibed the judges.
